An eHealth Intervention to Support Diverse LGBTQ+ People During the COVID-19 Pandemic
COVID-19 exerts a disproportionate impact on marginalized populations in North America, and globally. Due to structural inequities, LGBTQ+ and racialized communities, and other marginalized demographic intersections by gender, age, disability, migration, and HIV status, experience heightened vulnerability in the pandemic.
This international, multisite, randomized controlled trial tests the effectiveness of a peer-delivered eHealth intervention in increasing COVID-19 knowledge and protective behaviors (masking, physical distancing, handwashing) and reducing psychological distress during the pandemic. #SafeHandsSafeHearts supports the meaningful engagement of LGBTQ+ and racialized populations in public health responses to COVID-19, and future emergency situations.

DW Interview with Peter Newman
COVID-19 has divided the world. Most recently, between the vaccinated and un-vaccinated. Many American companies, from Google to CNN and United Airlines have made the vaccine compulsory for staff. The alternative - look for a new job. In Germany, free corona-virus tests are coming to an end. Unvaccinated Germans will have to foot the bill, if they want to eat out or go shopping. In France, a quarter-million people protested against tightening rules against the unvaccinated. They say liberty is at stake. It's their body their choice. The French government is trying to speed up its vaccination drive, by making life for the non-vaccinated more complicated. Access to trains, domestic flights and restaura...

Sexual Minorities in the Face of the COVID-19 Storm
Marginalized populations around the world are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. Due to systemic discrimination and structural inequities, LGBTQ+ and racialized communities experience ongoing health disparities amid unstable housing, employment discrimination, low income, barriers in healthcare access, harassment, and violence. Globally, 70 countries still criminalize consensual same-sex sexual acts between adults.
To address substantial gaps in the pandemic response, we are rapidly mobilizing with global research partners to implement a community-engaged, peer-delivered online int...
How to Have Sex in an Epidemic Redux: Reinforcing HIV Prevention in the COVID-19 Pandemic
Parvah is a short film on the lives of lesbian, bisexual, and trans-masculine persons highlighting their challenges during the pandemic. Produced by Project Samajh, a unique initiative of The Humsafar Trust and UNAIDS.
Project Samajh has created a social media campaign addressing the specific knowledge needs of the LGBTQ+ community. The objective of this campaign is to make the community aware about the risks of COVID-19 along with HIV, STIs, OIs, other comorbid conditions and mental health problems. The campaign also seeks to inform and empower community members with various support and coping mechanisms. It is our belief that raising awareness a...
